Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Service

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Dashboard Light

This symbol, which appears on your vehicle’s dashboard, is your Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning. Most vehicles today are equipped with a TPMS. The icon in your vehicle may vary in appearance depending on the make and model.

The TPMS is an electronic system that uses sensors to monitor the air pressure inside your tyres. If your tyre pressure has dropped 25% or more below the manufacturer’s recommended level then the system will alert you to the issue. The alert can come in the form of a flashing light or an audible alert.

If the TPMS alert is on in your vehicle then you should bring it into Tubbys Tyrepower for a service.

It is important to maintain the recommended tyre pressure to ensure:

  • Increased life on your tyres
  • Greater fuel efficiency
  • Quicker steering response
  • A smoother ride

It’s recommended that you always have your TPMS seen to by a qualified technician. The TPMS components should always be serviced every time you change your tyres.

Did you know that your Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) contains a battery within the sensor? It typically has a life of 5-10 years, with an average of 7 years. Due to this, the sensor will need to be replaced.

What does the alert light mean?

The TPMS alert light will turn on and stay on, likely meaning there is an under-inflated tyre. This is typically an easy fix. Simply stop by Tubbys Tyrepower and we’ll add air, repair your tyre if needed, test your sensors and get you back on the road safely and confidently.

The TPMS light will flash or blink on and off if there is a system malfunction. This requires immediate action as it could be a failed sensor or a problem in the system. At Tubbys Tyrepower we can diagnose and either fix or replace your TPMS sensors.

What if I just ignore the alert?

Whether the TPMS light is staying on or blinking, ignoring these warnings could lead to a flat tyre or worse. Extensive damage to your vehicle, as well as dangerous accidents can be the effect of a resulting blowout. You also do not want to be stuck somewhere without your vehicle.

If you have any concerns regarding your TPMS or would simply like a trusted expert to assess your tyre pressure and provide peace of mind then call in and see us today at 41 Monro Avenue, Kirrawee, or phone us on (02) 9521 4488.
